New projects!

While many of us are in places that are snowy and cold, the designers are providing a breath of spring with some of their new designs. All of the new Mill Hill kits have arrived with birds, butterflies, bees and gnomes!  There are a few nods to winter with The Snow Maiden from Mirabilia, Heart in Hand’s Doodles: Winter and from Tiny Modernist, Winter Signs.  Charts that are part of a series continue with the Heart in Hand 2022 Collector’s Heart, Year in the Woods #2-Swans from Cottage Garden Samplings and the newest bowl filler chart from With Thy Needle & Thread, O Lucky Day.  To see the latest arrivals, go to www.houseofstitches.com/whatsnew.cfm .

We are still having issues with some suppliers.  We received 5 colors of hand dyed threads today but they were 38 colors that did not arrive.  A recent hand-dyed fabric shipment had the aida colors but none of the linen that we ordered!  Thankfully, with cross stitch there are MANY options and alternatives!  So far, I have not heard of anyone who couldn’t find something to stitch.  Recently we have framed many projects that were started years ago and have finally been finished.  Great accomplishments!

I recently finished a quick little project called Alphabet in the Round by JBW Designs. For some reason my stitching is in a monochrome phase.  This one has two shades of pink and the designer suggests two other color options. (Thanks, Judy!)  Or you can be bold and use your own favorite colors!  Mine is on 32 count cream Belfast and fits nicely in a six-inch hoop.  I used Classic Colorworks Strawberry Parfait and DMC 761.

Keep on stitching; we believe it is keeping many of us sane!  Thank you for your continued interest.

Happy New Year!

Here we are at the beginning of another year, 2022! It is like the Christmas carol says, “fast away the old year passes”.  I hope you were able to end the year with family and friends. I know it is still difficult to get together with Covid once again spreading at an alarming rate. Were you able to spend time reflecting on why we celebrate Christmas?  What an incredible gift God gave us in the form a baby to bring light and hope to a dark, desperate world. It is my hope that you have that hope and light in your life!

Our What’s New page has been updated with the final 2021 edition. You can see all the latest arrivals at www.houseofstitches.com/whatsnew.cfm . While there are still many holiday projects, there is a good variety. We have gnomes, the start of a new Little House Needleworks series (Fall on the Farm), the second in the Country Cottage Needleworks Nutcracker Village, and new charts from Just Nan, Plum Street and Annie Beez.

We do not know what 2022 holds for us.  We would still love to find a new owner for the shop. Business is better than ever but I am older than ever! LOL Who would like to take the shop into the next era?

I wish you the best for the new year. I am anxious to see what wonderful projects you will stitch!  I is amazing to see your works of art!

Happy New Year!
