I hope all your projects are coming together with minimum difficulties!  I will not take too much of your time as I am sure you are very busy.  Our What’s New page has been updated and the latest arrivals are shown here: www.houseofstitches.com/whatsnew.cfm. Pour a cup of your favorite winter beverage and take a few minutes to choose a few new projects.

Can you believe that Thanksgiving is this week? Time is flying by at an alarming rate!  I hope you find time to stitch during all the activities that go on from here to the end of the year. It is clear the designers are finding time to produce great new projects for us. Go to our What’s New page: www.houseofstitches.com/whatsnew.cfm to see all the wonderful projects. There are SO many that I want to add to my stitching stash!

Autumn is here!

 Autumn seems to be arriving with gloomy skies and rain. Up until today it was at least warm rain but now the temperatures are going down. To my way of thinking that makes good stitching weather!  (Never mind that I say that about all types of weather and all seasons!) As I looked over our latest update on the What’s New page www.houseofstitches.com/whatsnew.cfm , I realized that the majority of the new charts have autumn themes with a few Christmas ones thrown in for good measure. We also have the tenth chart in the twelve chart Sunday Stitches series by Heartstring Samplery. You might have a hard time choosing which projects you need!

People always ask what we have been stitching.  Here is a photo of a recent finish.  It is Acorn by Rovaris.  I hope all of your projects are going well!  We appreciate your continued interest in our shop!

Arrivals from Fall Expo!

 

The Online Fall Expo has brought us SO many new designs, kits and accessories!  You are in for a treat when you go to our Catalog page https://www.houseofstitches.com/search.cfm and type fallexpo21 in the key word box. We have added 128 new things…so far!  More will be arriving as time goes on.  There are samplers, ornaments, Halloween designs, cute sayings, strawberries, pin drums, thread rings and needlework labels. Look them over; we are standing by to take your orders!

As you work on holiday projects, remember that our framing deadline is October 1.  We may also ask you to choose a Plan B frame just in case a moulding is out of stock until after the holidays.

A great time to be a needleworker!

It is a great time to be a needleworker!  We have updated our What’s New page at www.houseofstitches.com/whatsnew.cfm. For Hardanger aficionados there are lovely new designs from Satin Stitches. We have the Homespun Elegance annual ornaments, a beautiful new Mirabilia design, and a fall chart from Little House Needleworks.  

 The Fall Needlework Expo is this weekend so there will be many more new things arriving in the coming weeks. This is a wholesale only event and I will do my best to get the things you need!  We need to make room for all the things that will be coming in soon, so we have added to our sale selections.  (Click the link on our Catalog page.)  The featured designers this time are Heart’s Content and Needle Bling. More will be added in the future. Quantities are limited so do not delay making your selections.

Holiday framing

It’s time for another What’s New update! Several of your favorite designers have added to their ongoing series. Make sure you do not miss the latest charts from Country Cottage Needleworks, Heartstring Samplery and Little House Needleworks.  Mill Hill brings us six new Jim Shore ornament kits, three Santas and three Snowmen. Take a look at www.houseofstitches.com/whatsnew.cfm .

We continue to be amazed at the number of projects that are coming in to be framed. Our backlog has stretched to eight weeks or longer. Backordered supplies are also contributing to delays. If you need something framed for Christmas, please get it to us by October 1.  We appreciate your understanding!

Hot projects for hot weather stitching!

If you are celebrating Christmas in July, we have some charts to add to your collection.  New Halloween projects are also arriving, including Jack O Lantern Jubilee from With Thy Needle and Thread. Rosewood Manor, Scarlett House, Hands On Design, Heart in Hand, Hello From Liz Mathews and Threadwork Primitives also have tempting new charts.

 We have been having hot, humid weather here in the Midwest. The perfect way to deal with it is to stay in a cool place and stitch, stitch, stitch! Your continued interest and support are much appreciated.

 We have a summer extravaganza of new designs for you!  Thirty-five new things have arrived since the last update. One of the most exciting is the Just Cross Stitch Halloween 2021 Special Collector’s Issue. Halloween fans will also want to see the new chart from Twin Peak Primitives.  Twisted Mermaids is new from Mirabilia, Cricket Collection has two new designs and four wonderful designs have arrived from JBW. Two Prairie Schooler charts have been reprinted. Hi, stitching friends!

Once again, we have added charts and kits to our What’s New page! You can see them at www.houseofstitches.com/whatsnew.cfm .  We have the sixth in the Sunday Stitches Series from Heartstring Samplery, Mill Hill’s annual trio of Santas and this year’s Charmed Ornaments (Snowmen!)  and the sixth in the A Time for all Seasons Series.  Sleepy Hollow Lodge is new from Little House Needleworks and Crossed Wing Collection has a design called Suet Duet. Lindy Stitches and Hands On Design each have two new designs, also.

I want to reiterate that we are not planning any special events this year. Just staying open six days a week is keeping us busier than ever. It has been fun seeing many of you who have ventured forth for the first time since the pandemic started!  We can say with assurance that stitching helped many people weather the craziness of the last fourteen months. Your continued support is appreciated and we hope to see you this summer!

Summer Projects!

It is time to plan your summer stitching projects!  I like to stitch projects that correspond to the current season, how about you?  If you do, we have quite a few summer and patriotic designs on our latest What’s New page.  You can choose your favorites at www.houseofstitches.com/whatsnew.cfm .  There are a few things that arrived too late for this update: Punch Needle & Primitive Stitcher Magazine, Summer 2021 and all the fall and winter Mill Hill kits!  There will be photos on our next update.

Just a reminder-we are open our regular hours, 10:00-5:30 weekdays and 10:00-3:00 on Saturdays.  We are on Central (Chicago) time. We are still asking that you wear a mask. If you are still not comfortable shopping in person, we are happy to mail your supplies or do curbside delivery. It is wonderful to have so many people stitching! Keep it up!

New Designs for Spring!

 I think spring might be here to stay this time!  After having snowflakes in the air on Mother’s Day, we were beginning to wonder! It is wonderful to have a few more minutes of daylight every day.  Many people like stitching in natural daylight the best.

Once again, our What’s New page at www.houseofstitches.com/whatsnew.cfm has many new designs to encourage your stitching habit!  We have a new gnome chart from Jardin Prive, two designs from Hands On, a new Trio chart from Waxing Moon and two new ones from Fox and Rabbit Designs. Also newly arrived is the fifth in the Sunday Stitches series from Heartstring Samplery.

The pandemic has caused many people to re-evaluate their work and priorities. If you have been doing that and have always wanted to own a needlework shop, come and talk with me! Cross stitch is on an upswing since so many people have discovered it for the first time or rediscovered it. We all know how relaxing and calming it can be. You can help people find the joy of stitching!

Time to Bloom!

We have a double dose of new cross stitch designs for you! I did not get a newsletter sent for the April 26 update so there are two lists of new designs for your viewing pleasure! There are new charts from many of your favorite designers: Little House Needleworks, Just Nan, With Thy Needle and Thread, Sue Hillis, Imaginating, Heart in Hand and Lindy Stitches to name just a few.  See the latest here: www.houseofstitches.com/whatsnew.cfm.

We are not going to be doing any extra curricular things this year. I won’t bore you with the list of reasons. BUT! The shop will continue to be open on our regular schedule. And we will do our best to get you the supplies that you need for your projects. It has been a challenging year with sporadic delivery of our orders but some supplies are starting to arrive more reliably.  And we will still be sending out mail orders every day that the Post Office is open.

Spring seems to finally be here to stay!   Flowers and trees are blooming. (And allergies are booming!) It is inspiring many of you to finish projects that were started long ago.  We continue to be amazed at the finished pieces that are coming in to be framed. The new chart from Annie Beez has a good reminder. It says, “It’s your time to bloom!”

We are enjoying beautiful spring weather here in Northern Indiana!  The grass is green again and trees and spring flowers are popping with blooms. I hope you are enjoying similar rejuvenating weather where you live! We have some suggestions for your spring stitching at https://www.houseofstitches.com/whatsnew.cfm .  

I have been a bit out of the loop for the last several weeks as my husband is recovering from hip replacement surgery.  He is making remarkable progress, so I hope to be back up to speed soon.  I think I am recovering more slowly than he is! LOL  

We have had many inquiries about whether the shop is open.  And, the answer is, YES!  We are open our regular hours: 10:00-5:30 weekdays and 10:00-3:00 on Saturdays. (Remember we are on Central time.) We do require that you wear a mask that covers both your nose and mouth. We hope to see you soon, whether in person or online!

Arrivals from Needlework Expo (and more!)

I hope you are ready for some major stash enhancement!  Last weekend there was an online Needlework Expo. The new things are have started rolling in with many more to follow. Earlier this week we updated our What’s New page at www.houseofstitches.com/whatsnew.cfm. There you will see the 2021 Prairie Schooler Santa along with new Laurel Burch kits from Mill Hill and charts from Little house Needleworks, Heart in Hand and Country Cottage Needleworks.  Then to see the new Expo arrivals, click on the Our Catalog button and type expo21 in the key word box. So far, we have 46 items listed there with many more to come. Just some of the designers represented so far include JBW, Praiseworthy Stitches, Nebby Needle, La-D-Da and Heartstring Samplery. Have fun shopping! 

Needlework Expo

 It has been our privilege to keep you supplied with stitching essentials during the last year.  If there was ever a time that we needed the calming, soothing effects of stitching, this was it! The 2020 Nashville Needlework Market was one of the last “normal” things that we did.  The 2021 market was cancelled but an online Needlework Expo is happening this weekend. (March 6-8) You have probably been hearing about it on social media. If there are designs that you would like, just email or phone us with your list.  (Please do NOT use Facebook Messenger.)  We need to have the title of the chart and the designer’s name to make sure we get you the correct items.  And, we ask that you purchase the things that you request. The designers have used their time at home to a good advantage and there are MANY wonderful projects coming our way! We will put things on our What’s New Page as they arrive but we will be depending on the USPS, UPS and FedEx for delivery. Thanks in advance for your patience!

I am sure you can find a few things there to keep you in stitches until the new things from the Needlework Expo arrive. Winter stitching!

We are excited to bring you new cross stitch designs and a new beading accessory. See them at www.houseofstitches.com/whatsnew.cfm . There are new designs from Scarlett House, Nora Corbett, Tiny Modernist, Needlework Press, JBW Designs, Lindy Stitches, With Thy Needle and Thread and Mill Hill. Heartstring Samplery brings us the second of twelve designs in the Sunday Stitches series. If you stitch with beads, the new Bead Bed will make things easier. The sticky inside surfaces keeps beads under control and the magnetic “pillow” keeps your needles handy.

With so much of our country in a winter deep freeze and snow event, it is the perfect time to shop for your next project. And, while we are getting so much snow, let me remind you that if a snow emergency is declared, we will be closed until it is lifted.  But! For the record, I am ready for spring to start any time!

How are things in your corner of the world?  We are having a snowy winter weekend here in northern Indiana. Like I always say, (no matter the current meteorological conditions) it’s good stitching weather! If you need inspiration to get started, you need look no further than our What’s New Page: houseofstitches.com/whatsnew.cfm .  There are so many great new designs! The Heart in Hand 2021 Collector’s Heart is here, Just Nan has Winter Mouse Scissor Roll and Prairie Schooler has three newly reprinted charts!  Heartstring Samplery has four new charts; one of them is Amazing Grace, the first in the new Sunday Stitches series. Do not miss the three new charts from With Thy Needle and Thread, two from Rosewood Manor and three from Hands on Design.

We continue to be open with our usual hours.  (10:00-5:30 weekdays, 10:00-3:00 on Saturday-Central Time) We need to limit customers to about five at a time and of course, masks are still required.  Mail order and curbside pick-up are also available. We want you to have the supplies you need!  If your projects do not seem to be going well, try to follow the advice in one of the new With Thy Needle and Thread charts: Just Fudge it and Carry On!!

I hope your new year is off to a good start. I cannot believe that we are halfway through the first month of the year!
