Merry Christmas!

The Christmas countdown is speeding right along!  I hope all of your preparations are going smoothly.  It seems like the closer we get, the more things I think of that I need to do!  If you need a short break, just hop on over to our What’s New page and take a peek at the newest arrivals: https://www.houseofstitches.com/whatsnew.cfm . One of the new charts, Bringing Christmas by Carriage House Samplings, is a companion to the photo below. Christmas Joy Ride (also by Carriage House Samplings) was stitched by our friend and customer, Erin.  She personalized it by giving the girl blond hair. We love it!!  Great job, Erin; keep up the good work!

I want to give you our holiday hours one more time.  I  know some of you drive quite a distance to visit us and I do not want you to get here and be disappointed!

Thankful for stitchers and stitching!

The designers are not slowing down as the holidays approach! We have more than 40 new items on our What’s New Page at https://www.houseofstitches.com/whatsnew.cfm . There are new charts from Chessie & Me, Shepherd’s Bush, Teresa Kogut, Just Nan, Abby Rose and Long Dog Samplers to name a few. We have 3 new scissors with a honeybee theme, 6 new kits with designs by Jim Shore, and the Christmas-Winter Mega Issue of Punch Needle and Primitive Stitcher Magazine. Also, we have the new Parker’s Stocking from Shepherd’s Bush. It arrived too late for this update but if you would like one, just put a note in the customer comments area of the order form or call and ask us to hold one for you. We also have Parker’s embellishment packs.

Make plans to stop in the shop before the end of the month to see the trunk show from Summer House Stitche Workes. It is always a special treat to see a designer's very own models in person. The photos on the charts just do not capture the full extent of their beauty!

One popular form that needlework is currently taking is pin drums.  Our very own Jackie (You can visit her in the shop on Tuesdays, Thursdays as well as other days here and there.) has stitched two pin drums that she has allowed us to display in the shop. They are Harvest Home from Summer House Stitche Workes and Acorn House Pin Drum from Heartstring Samplery. Beautiful work, Jackie!  Thanks for sharing them with us.

They say that Thanksgiving is late this year but it certainly seems to have arrived early, doesn’t it?  We are so grateful for our many customers and friends who support and encourage us! Keep on stitching and sharing it with others. We love to hear new stitchers tell us how relaxing it is to stitch and how it relieves their stress. Have a wonderful day of thanks; I hope you can spend time with your latest project!

So, I will spare you the chit chat and let you get right to the good stuff!  Enjoy!

Successful Class

If you have been visiting our website, you may have already looked at our latest What’s New page:  https://www.houseofstitches.com/whatsnew.cfm.  The list of new items is not as long as it is sometimes but there are plenty of great projects for your stitching pleasure.  We now have the last two designs in the Songbird’s Garden series from Cottage Garden Samplings.  If you are looking for a large project to see you through the winter, take a look at With the Needle 2 from Lila’s Studio.  Victoria Sampler has a new box design and a Christmas tree that you can decorate as much as you want!
Our Weekend of Stitches with Beth Seal from Summer House Stitche Workes was great fun! Beth is a wonderful, patient teacher and I think we all learned new needlework tips, tricks and techniques.  Everyone did a great job!

Class members display their finished projects
Cindy from Lansing, IL sent a photo of her weekend accomplishments!

Christmas Framing Deadline

We are busy with last minute preparations for our Weekend of Stitches!  We are looking forward to spending time with Beth Seal from Summer House Stitche Workes. I’m sure we will all learn a few new needlework tricks and techniques!

Can you believe that we are almost halfway through October?  If you are stitching Christmas gifts, I hope that things are progressing nicely!  Our deadline for Christmas framing is November 15.  That gives us enough time to give your project the attention that it deserves to get it ready for gift giving.

Our What’s New page, https://www.houseofstitches.com/whatsnew.cfm , is filled with new charts from some of your favorite designers: Country Cottage Needleworks, Hands on  Designs, Heart in Hand Needleart, JBW Designs, Just Nan, Little House Needleworks, Plum Street Designs, Summer House Stitche Workes and With Thy Needle and Thread.  Scroll through the  list  and let us know which ones are destined for your collection.

One of our stitching friends, Patti from Noblesville, recently shared an epic project that she has been working on for several years.  The designs are from eight of Prairie Schooler's annual Santa cards. She used seven count Klostern to stitch them. It’s going to be too pretty to cover with packages!  Keep up the good work, Patti!  You are in the home stretch on this project.

Autumn Design Abundance!

I hope this finds you ready for some autumn projects. We have updated our What’s New page with 44 new items.  There are witches, crows, sunflowers and turkeys!  And, just to remind us how fast time is moving, there are a few Christmas designs.  If I had to pick a favorite from the new titles, I think it would be Marriage by My Big Toe.  It’s sure to give you a smile and chuckle! So, with no further comments, I will let you get on to the new things: https://www.houseofstitches.com/whatsnew.cfm .

We appreciate your continued interest and business.  It is encouraging to see many younger stitchers discovering the joys of stitching!

New designs!

Our What’s New page has been updated with an amazing assortment of designs!  We have received automatic shipments from Cricket Collection, Just Nan, Heart in Hand and Erica Michaels. And, the 2019 Just Cross Stitch Ornament Magazine is here!
If you have projects that need to be framed for Christmas (or any other special occasion) please try to get them to us sooner rather than later.  Record numbers of finished projects are being brought in for framing!  We do not want anyone to be disappointed. Giving us as much lead time as possible will help ensure that you have your piece framed by the date that you need it.
(Our friend, Chris from Kalamazoo, Michigan, brought Show & Tell when she visited recently.  She stitched all three sets of the Mill Hill Advent Trilogy (https://www.houseofstitches.com/detail.cfm?ID=38889 , https://www.houseofstitches.com/detail.cfm?ID=38890 , https://www.houseofstitches.com/detail.cfm?ID=38891) and turned them into a wonderful advent calendar. I will post a picture on our blog and Facebook so you can see the clever way that she used the ornaments.  Great job, Chris!

I hope you enjoy seeing all of our latest arrivals. Thank you for your continued support; we appreciate you!

Fall projects!

Summer is winding down; are you ready for a new fall project?  Our What’s New page, https://www.houseofstitches.com/whatsnew.cfm , has great projects to fill your stitching baskets.  Along with the brand-new designs, we have four reprinted charts from Blackbird Designs.  These are charts that you may have spotted on eBay for mega prices.  The last three charts in Needle Bling’s Halloween Mini-series.  Hardanger enthusiasts will want to see the four new designs from Satin Stitches.  Pumpkin Topiary by Scissor Tail Designs can be a part of your fall decorating for the whole season.  And, it includes a Pumpkin Pin Pillow. It is as much fun to say as it is cute!

It is not too late to sign up for our October 18-20 Weekend of Stitches.  Not many spaces remain, so do not delay.
I received word this week that the 2019 Just Cross Stitch Ornament Magazine will be shipped to us next week! It is sent by Media Mail so I don’t know exactly when it will arrive.  Let us know if you would like us to phone or email you when it arrives and we will hold a copy for you.

This is another finished project from our friend Linda who lives in Muncie, IN.  It is a Rosewood Manor design called Barnwood Buttons. It is on my "someday I will stitch this" list. I love mother of pearl buttons and I bet many of you do, too!

A hot time was had by all!

Thank you so much to everyone who helped make our Midwest Stash Exchange a success.  It was warmer than the temperature I requested from the weatherman but it did not rain!  So far, we have $1100 to send to Riley Hospital for Children!  We are going to wait about a week to send the money to Indianapolis so there is still time to add your contribution.

In the week since the Stash Exchange the shop has received still more new designs to fill your stitching baskets. You surely do not want to miss anything new!  Here’s the link to our What’s New page: https://www.houseofstitches.com/whatsnew.cfm . (If for some mysterious computer reason, the link does not work, just go to our website and click the What’s New button. You can do that anytime, any day!) Halloween designs are well represented along with three new Fragments in Time by Summer House Stitche Workes, three new Drawn Thread charts, a new mandala from Ink Circles and the next two designs in Amy Bruecken’s Lucky 13 series.

If you have been debating about joining the fun for our October Weekend of Stitches, there is still plenty of time to sign up and complete your pre-stitching.  (It is a good thing since I have not yet started my pre-stitching!)  Give us a call, 800-455-8517, or email, mail@houseofstitches.com, and we will add you to our class.

Thank you for our continued support!  We appreciate you and look forward to serving your cross stitch needs.

Countdown to Stash Exchange!

I hope you have Saturday, August 3rd circled on your calendar for the Midwest Stash Exchange!  Booth space is still available if you would like to be a seller.  We have a large booth of donated charts and stitching supplies and 100% of the funds raised from this booth will go to the Riley Hospital Children’s Foundation. We hope to see you there. I have my order in for lovely weather for your selling and shopping pleasure.

Our favorite scissor sharpener will also be on site at the Stash Exchange! If you cannot attend on Saturday, you can drop your scissors off beforehand and pick them up after. His rates are very reasonable and he will do knives, also.

We have updated our What’s New Page at https://www.houseofstitches.com/whatsnew.cfm . There are new charts from some of your favorite designers: JBW, Plum Street, With Thy Needle and Thread and Jeannette Douglas and more. Let us know which ones are your favorites!

Stash Exchange!

I have great news!  We will have a scissor sharpener at the Midwest Stash Exchange August 3, 2019.  Even if you are not able to join us that day you can still get your scissors (and knives!) sharpened.  Just drop them off before the 3rd and we will hold them for you to pick them up after the 3rd.  We still have booth space available if you are ready to part with some of your stash.  Or, just come to shop and enhance your stash!

While we are talking about stash enhancement, why not go for the ultimate stash enhancement and purchase House of Stitches?!  I will be happy to mentor and guide you if you wish. Cross stich is on the upswing right now so it is a great time to consider becoming part of the needlework industry.

Our What’s New Page has been updated at https://www.houseofstitches.com/whatsnew.cfm . One of the new items is the 2019 Just Cross Stitch Halloween Magazine!  Halloween is one of the main themes of the new releases.  The second group of Scary Apothecary charts are here as well as two new Halloween chars from Imaginating.  If you need a smile, look at Cross Stitch Fills My Days by Rosie and Me or Cluck Cluck Farm from Artful Offerings. I want to stitch it just because I love the title!

Thank you for your continued support!  We appreciate your business.

Summer stitching!

Happy Fourth of July! This message is coming to you a week later than planned due to computer issues. But, maybe the holiday will give you a little extra time to scroll through the new designs and plan your summer projects. The What’s New Page, https://www.houseofstitches.com/whatsnew.cfm , has an abundance of patriotic and summer-themed designs. If you start them now, they will be ready for next summer.

Our Midwest Stash Exchange is fast approaching!  I hope you can join us on August 3, 2019.  We have plenty of booth space available (It’s a big parking lot!) and it is for a good cause: Riley Hospital for Children. If you don’t want to have a booth, you can come and enhance your own stash. It is a great time of camaraderie with other stitchers and you might just find that out of print design that you need to complete your collection. For more information see our Events Page, https://www.houseofstitches.com/events.html . We hope to see you there!

The October Weekend of Stitches will soon be here, too! We have a few spaces open so sign up soon. The class project is available on aida or linen so it is do-able for both types of stitchers. The pre-stitching kits will be going out in mid-July. More information is on our Events Page, https://www.houseofstitches.com/events.html . Beth Seal is a great teacher and you will be glad you decided to join us!

Have a safe and Happy Fourth! I hope you can spend some extra time stitching!

Friendly Advice!

I want to start today by giving you a little friendly advice. If you see a design that you like; buy it! Buy it NOW!! We can never be sure how long something will be in print. And, most designers do not let us know when they discontinue a design. We find out the hard way when we try to order it for you. We are getting calls and emails nearly every day from people who are looking for charts that have gone out of print. I hate it when we are not able to get you the projects that you want! So, this is not a shameless sales ploy; it is an earnest attempt for you to be able to obtain the charts that you need.
Once again, our What’s New page has been updated: https://www.houseofstitches.com/whatsnew.cfm. For those of you who are so much more organized that I am, there are new Mill Hill Christmas kits. There are also summer and patriotic charts and even a couple of Halloween designs! From Noteworthy Needle we have the May and June Thimble boxes. These little boxes are just too cute for words! And I have it on good authority, they only take about 6 hours from start to finish, including assembly!
We are having another day of rain and cool temperatures. Summer seems to be toying with us! But, like I always say, it is good stitching weather.
Remember to sign up for the Midwest Stash Exchange and our October class with Beth Seal from Summer House Stitche Workes. The information is here: https://www.houseofstitches.com/events.html.
This photo below is "The Winter is Past" by Blackbird Designs. It was stitched by our friend and co-worker, Jackie. It is stitched with Weeks Dye Works floss on 36 count Oaken by Picture This Plus. Great job, Jackie!

New charts!

More new charts have arrived for your stitching pleasure!  You can see them at https://www.houseofstitches.com/whatsnew.cfm .  Jack Frost’s Tree Farm 4 is here and the 2019 Prairie Schooler Santa has arrived earlier that usual!  There are four new designs from Victoria Sampler, including Introduction to Hardanger Pincushion and Large Pillow Set and I Love My Dog Sampler.  If you are looking for a summery sampler, be sure to see Lavender Farm by Cuore e Batticuore.  And the cuteness award this time goes to Ride More by Xs and Ohs!

Be sure to go to our Events page, https://www.houseofstitches.com/events.html to see the information for the August 3 Midwest Stash Exchange  and  the October Weekend of Stitches!  Do not be left out of the FUN!

Spring stitching!

It is finally feeling like spring here in northern Indiana!  The big question is whether the warmth will last.  I hope you are having nice weather where you live, too! The designers continue to bring us great new designs.  We have updated our what’s new page at https://www.houseofstitches.com/whatsnew.cfm .  There are new charts from Joan Elliott, Sweetheart Tree, Rosewood Manor, Little House Needleworks, Country Cottage Needleworks, Stacy Nash and many more!

Remember to mark your calendars for the August 3, 2019 Midwest Stash Exchange and October 18-20, 2019 Weekend of Stitches.  Details are on our website: https://www.houseofstitches.com/events.html .

Our friend Linda, in Muncie, Indiana sent us photos of her work to share with all of you. You can see them on our blog www.houseofstitches.blogspot.com or on our Facebook page.  Two are from John Clayton (Sarah is in the pink hat and Miranda is in the purple hat.) and the other is Daisies from the book Nature’s Bouquet by Stoney Creek.  They are beautiful and inspiring! Keep up the good work Linda!

What's new and 2 finishes!

I hope you need a new spring project because we have a wonderful selection of new designs for you!  Jack Frost’s Tree Farm, Part 3 has arrived and Mirabilia has a new angel called Winter Love.  For your favorite little guy, we have cute little tractors, trucks and earthmovers.  My Big Toe has four new charts; my favorite says, “A place for everything and nothing in its place”!
Be sure to let us know if you would like to join us for our Weekend of Stitches October 18-20, 2019.  Here is a link to more information: https://www.houseofstitches.com/events.html .  We keep the class size small for your enjoyment so space is limited.
It was suggested that we post photos of things that House of Stitches employees have stitched or have in progress.  Here are two recent finishes:
This one was stitched by our framer from  the book "Home for the Holidays"  by Sue Hillis.

I (Linda) stitched  "Primitive Heart" by Abby Rose.

Events for your calendar!

As promised, I have the details for our October 18-20, 2019 Weekend of Stitches!  These are photos of the project. There is more information here:  https://www.houseofstitches.com/events.html .  At the very bottom is a link to the registration form.  It is going to be a great weekend with a project that is perfectly suited for autumn stitching!  I hope you can join us.  You can also find the information by clicking the Events button on the home page of our website: www.houseofstitches.com .

Another date to put on your calendar is August 3.  We will be hosting our Midwest Stash Exchange as a fundraiser for Riley Hospital for Children.  Booth space is $20.00 and that goes to Riley.  There is no charge to come and shop… but we do not turn down donations to the cause! LOL  In the next few days we will have a registration form for the Midwest Stash Exchange on our Events page also.

And, last but not least, we have an updated What’s New Page for you at https://www.houseofstitches.com/whatsnew.cfm .  If you are a Mill Hill kit lover you will have a very good time looking through the new arrivals.  The Laurel Burch Flying Colors Collection has butterflies and dragonflies, Debbie Mumm has the Blooms and Blossoms Series, AND the new Fall Series are here! I need to step up my stitching game.  It is a good thing most of you stitch faster than I do!  Keep up the good work!

Two weeks until the Nashville Needlework Market!!

It is an exciting time in the needlework industry! The designers are all gearing up for the Nashville Needlework Market that is just two weeks away. Many are showing sneak peaks and others are posting photos of everything they will be exhibiting.  So, if there are items that you would like, please let us know and we will do our best to get them for you.  (With limited editions we can never be sure we will get everything we want but we will certainly try!)

Our What’s New page has been updated for you at https://www.houseofstitches.com/whatsnew.cfm . There’s another design in the Loose Feather For the Birds series from Blackbird Designs, four new hardanger charts from Satin Stitches, two more Glitter House charts from Country Cottage Needleworks and a sweet Valentine chart from Waxing Moon that has three little square designs or red fabric.

If you are in the Niles, Michigan area on Saturday, stop by St. John’s United Church of Christ (601 Sycamore Street, Niles, MI) for the Sweet Charity Sewing Group’s Cure for Cabin Fever Indoor Shop Hop.  There will be thirteen Needlework vendors exhibiting with things for quilters, beaders and embroiderers.  You will receive raffle tickets with your admission of $5.00.  I hope you can visit!

I have to run! We are on the way to Grandparent’s Day for our grandson.  And then I need to pack stock for our booth on Saturday.  See you soon: here, there or on the web!

Closed January 30 & 31

Is it cold enough for you?  It certainly is for us!  We are being told that it has never been this cold since temperature records have been kept.  Due to the dangerously low temperatures as well as blowing and drifting snow, House of stitches will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday, January 30 and 31. I apologize for any inconvenience but we must put safety first.

While we are waiting out the cold and snow, there is an updated What’s New page for your enjoyment.  You can see it at https://www.houseofstitches.com/whatsnew.cfm . The best way to survive the winter weather is by planning your next project while you work on your current one(s)!  My favorite method to view the new arrivals is to click the Catalog Button on our home page and then type Jan19b in the Keyword box.  That way you can see pictures of all the designs without the need to click on each one individually. Which ones are destined for your stash?

Even though we are out of the shop, you may still contact us via email: mail@houseofstitches.com. Thank you for your patience and understanding!

Banish Winter Blues!

We have added our latest arrivals to our What’s New page: https://www.houseofstitches.com/whatsnew.cfm.  Many of you have been anticipating the arrival of the Spring line of Mill Hill kits.  Wait no more; they are here!  They provide the perfect antidote to the colder winter weather that we are experiencing here in the Midwest.  I think it is impossible to have the winter blues if you are stitching a flamingo, swimsuit, beach ball or watermelon! Select your favorites for an instant attitude adjustment.  We have a Nashville Market pre-order item from Glendon Place.  If you would like the limited edition kit called Someone We Love, we need to know right away (by Thursday, January 17).  Valentine’s Day is fast approaching! We have three heart themed designs from Heart in Hand (including the 2019 Collector’s Heart) and a Valentine Heart from Mill Hill. Those gift certificates that you received for Christmas will come in handy right about now!

If you have been wondering what Nancy has been doing since her retirement last summer, one answer is stitching!  Here is  her latest competed project. She recently finished The Shores of Hawk Run Hollow and it is framed and ready to hang.  Great job, Nancy!

Thank you for your continued support!  We appreciate you1

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!  I hope your 2019 is filled with happiness, good health, and plenty of stitching!  It is hard to believe that the holidays are behind us and it is time to get back to the regular rhythm of life and work. (We actually have one more large family gathering this weekend so that will ease the transition back to our everyday routine.) We spent Christmas Day and New Year’s Day with our children and grandchildren. Sharing food and fun with the ones you hold dear is a great way to celebrate!

While many companies and designers took time off over the holidays, the new designs still kept coming! Many are Christmas designs but that is fine with me!  I like stitching Christmas things in January when the deadlines are over and it feels virtuous to be planning ahead for next Christmas. We have two new samplers from Hands Across the Sea, five new charts from Joan Elliott, a CUTE book from Sue Hillis called Home for the Holidays and two more Gingerbread charts from Victoria Sampler.  Take a peak at these and all of the other new arrivals at https://www.houseofstitches.com/whatsnew.cfm.

Have a great new year and resolve to spend more time with a needle in your hand!
